John Clare is currently the Director of Policy with the Cannabis Legalization and Regulation Secretariat, the federal office created to support the Government’s commitment to legalize, regulate and restrict the sale of cannabis.

John has varied experience working in legislative and regulatory policy, and has held a range of positions over his 15 years at in the Government of Canada‎, including Director of Privacy and Data Protection Policy in the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (formerly Industry Canada), and the Director of Energy Policy at Natural Resources Canada. He has a Degree from the University of Alberta and is the proud father of an 11 year old boy.
